Challock Primary School
Achieves a ‘Silver Gilt’ medal at Hampton Court Flower Show
All at Challock School would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone that  helped to make our fantastic ‘Literacy Garden’. We are so incredibly proud to have won a ‘Silver-Gilt’ medal at the Hampton Court Flower Show and know that we would never have achieved this without the support and kindness of the families and friends of the school. Special mention must go to Franziska Harman, who designed the garden, Trudy Easton for resourcing Peter Rabbit, the tipi, the pencil fencing etc, Roger Spicer, who managed the project so efficiently, and Amanda Cottrell, who spurred us on to enter the show in the first place!
Work to rebuild the garden at school is to commence during the school holidays. We will be inviting all families, friends and local residents of the school to our official opening in September (exact date yet to be confirmed). We hope you can join us in celebrating our success!
ASHFORD & SHEPWAY TRY ANGLE AWARDS 5 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM CHALLOCK TAKE PART
The annual Ashford & Shepway Try Angle Awards took place at the Ashford International Hotel on Thursday 26th June 2008.  This awards ceremony is not only presented entirely by Young People but they are also responsible for organising the event.  The awards are a credit to all those involved from the organisers to the award winners and nominees.  The young people who are nominated for awards have shown great courage and resilience in the face of often appalling adversity and they are a great example to people of any age.  I was privileged enough to attend this event and it was humbling to see such a large group of young people coming together for such a good cause especially with the ongoing recent bad press that the youth of today receive.

The Try Angle Awards were introduced in 1994 to raise the profile of a vast majority of young people in the community who really do TRY, often with little recognition, to do their best.

The following young people from Challock took part:

· Alaina Cowell from Challock Youth Club was nominated for an award in the category of Bravery
· Hannah Cowell from Challock Youth Club was nominated for an award in the category of Good Friends and Young Carers
· Lucy Hughes from Challock Youth Club read the nominations in the  Good Friends and Young Carers category for Shepway
· Lauren Maidens from Challock Youth Club read the nominations in the Bravery category for Shepway
· Donna Ashby from Towers Youth Club made the closing speech.

WELL DONE TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS EVENT.

Secretary – Challock Youth Club
